The Bangladesh Educational and Counselling Psychology Society (BECPS) was established in 2015 as the professional body representing Educational Psychologists and Counselling Psychologists in Bangladesh. Our mission is to promote psychological and social wellbeing. BECPS was founded by graduates of Educational and Counselling Psychology from the University of Dhaka.
Our main goal is to maintain and promote the highest standards in training, research, and practice within the fields of Educational and Counselling Psychology in Bangladesh. We work with individuals, families, organizations, and communities to advocate for mental health and wellbeing, especially in times of crisis. We are committed to ethical practices and raising awareness about the importance of holistic health.
BECPS is involved in a range of activities, including:
1. Organizing professional events such as conferences, seminars, workshops, and training programs to meet the needs of Educational and Counselling Psychology graduates.
2. Advocating to the government and other organizations about the importance of Educational and Counselling Psychology in promoting psychological wellbeing and mental health.
3. Collaborating with national, regional, and international organizations to advance the field of Educational and Counselling Psychology.
4. Publishing scientific journals, books, and educational materials related to Educational and Counselling Psychology.
5. Establishing and upholding ethical standards in research and practice.
6. Providing psychosocial support during natural or man-made disasters.
7. Running awareness programs and advocating for preventive measures to promote psychological wellbeing.
The General Body, made up of general and life members, is the core decision-making body of BECPS. The elected Executive Committee is responsible for implementing the Society’s plans and activities.
General Member: Available to graduates with accredited postgraduate training in Educational or Counselling Psychology.
Affiliate Member: Open to individuals with a special interest or involvement in psychology, education, counselling, or mental health.
Student Member: Available to current students pursuing an MS in Counselling Psychology or Educational Psychology.
Life Member: Awarded to general members with at least 10 years of experience who have made significant contributions to the field or to BECPS.
To become a member, apply to the President of BECPS. Your eligibility will be reviewed by the Executive Committee. Once approved, membership is activated upon payment of the annual fee, and it can be renewed each year.
General Member: 1,500 BDT per year
Affiliate Member: 2,000 BDT per year
Student Member: 1,200 BDT per year
Life Member: Based on a substantial contribution (Lifetime membership)
